Meet the Director & The Assistant Director

Director | Guy Korngold | guy@ckb.ca

Guy Korngold spent three years as a camper at Camp Kinneret and then became a Biluim camper in 1985. In 1986 he participated in Biluim Israel and then returned to Camp Kinneret the following summer. Guy spent the next six summers at Camp Kinneret and ultimately served as the Program Director in 1991 and 1992. In 1993 and 1994, Guy spent his summers in Israel guiding teenagers throughout the Israeli landscape. He enjoyed this experience immensely and therefore chose to stay in Israel for the year and serve as a madrich and coordinator for the Young Judaea Year Course Program.

This experience led him to New York City where he spent the next three years as the National Director of Hamagshimim, the college and university expression of Hadassah. Summers were spent coordinating activity at the Hadassah leadership camp in Upstate New York. Guy then decided to return to Montreal where he enrolled in the Concordia University MBA program. Guy also has his BA Anthropology and a diploma in Early Childhood Education. Guy is married to Erica Rubin (also a former Kinneret/Biluim camper and staff member) and they are the proud parents of Daniel and Mia who seem to enjoy their summers at campmore then anyone else! Guy started to play guitar at the age of sixteen while a camper at Biluim and lists canoeing and camping among his great passions. Guy has been happily serving as the Camp Kinneret-Biluim Director since 1999.

Assistant Director | Susanna “Shoshi” Rothschild | shoshi@ckb.ca

Shoshi Rothschild began her camp experience at Kinneret in 1996, at the age of 9 years old, and enjoyed three summers there as a camper. After a few summers spent as a CIT and staff member at URJ Camp George, Shoshi happily returned to Kinneret in 2004. She has acted as cabin staff, Kochot Unit Head, Assistant Program Director, and Program Director over the course of her time on staff.

Shoshi grew up in Ottawa and moved to Montreal in 2005, after spending her first year of university studying abroad, in England. She graduated from McGill University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English Literature and History. After graduating, Shoshi began working at the Bronfman Israel Experience Centre, as the coordinator of camping initiatives.  Not only did this position allow her to meet many interesting young adults and become heavily involved in the Montreal Jewish community, it also gave her the opportunity to staff several different Israel experience trips, including Birthright, March of the Living, and Machanayim; a definite perk!   In 2013, Shoshi began working at Camp Kinneret-Biluim year-round as the Associate Director.  She is currently in the process of completing her MA in Human Systems Intervention at Concordia University.

Assistant Director | Lorne Rembach

Lorne Rembach began his camping journey at Camp Kinneret in 1999, where he spent seven years as a chanich. In 2005, he was a camper at Camp Biluim Canada. The following summer, he participated in Biluim Israel.  Since 2007, Lorne has been actively involved with Canadian Young Judaea. He worked for seven summers at Camp Kinneret, where he acted as a cabin staff, Assistant Program Director and Program Director. In 2014, Lorne was hired as the Program Director of Biluim Canada. This experience led Lorne to his current position of Assistant Director of Camp Biluim.

Lorne’s commitment to community and self-identity development extends beyond the summers. During the year, Lorne is a full-time Intermediate teacher with the York Region District School Board. Prior, he studied at the University of Toronto, where he completed his Masters of Teaching. While he shares his passion for character building and leadership development on daily basis at school, he always looks forward to crossing off one more day of his countdown to camp.
